The Story of Fixity

Noémie Goudal

On 9 December 2025, Noémie Goudal was joined in conversation by Sarah Dry, writer and historian of science. In a conversation chaired by Artangel Director, Mariam Zulfiqar, the pair discussed Goudal’s major new commission for Artangel, The Story of Fixity, and their mutual interest in the history of science, particularly water, which are the focus for both this ambitious new installation and Dry's research.

Extraordinary art, unexpected places

Artangel has always gone where others fear to tread. We collaborate with artists who defy boundaries to give form to extraordinary ideas. The art we produce boldly responds to the environment in which we live. It’s often unlike anything you have experienced before. We've taken over an empty prison, uncovered an underground opera house, made sculpture from solid air, commissioned a mile-high column of light, and a thousand-year-long piece of music.
